When you decide to play it safe but life has other plans

Image
Something happened today. Me and a friend of mine, we went for a hike to one of the very popular places in Sydney called the Figure 8 Pool . The walk was pretty exhilarating. Royal National Park is extremely famous for the wonderful bushwalks and coastal walks with the ultra beautiful ocean views. The weather was very accommodating after a week long stint at rain and heat wave. It was our first time to the pools; all we knew about the place was a handful of pretty instagram pictures and one blog post. I knew instagram posts could be deceitful so I had decided to take this instant as every hyped thing that always comes up in my life by not being very excited and expecting the worst. The walk from Otford station up until the Burning Palms beach was beyond expectations. The Otford lookout and the Werrong Beach lookout took the cake for the day. I could go back to doing the walk just for them. The Palm Jungle was also surprisingly very enjoyable in a weird but adventurous w...

Struggles

Image
Imagine you are trapped inside a mobile cylindrical glass chamber. Everyone is. That is the norm. The only form of communication is gestures. While most people you know and interact with reside within a clear sort of glass container, the container that you grew up inside is a little cloudy; so much so that one can't see the inside very properly. Everyday, every time you have to interact with someone, they have a problem understanding you because they can't really make out your body movements. It's frustrating to say the least. It is not your fault that you arrived in a murky container. It's quite unfortunate that people must make fun of how abnormal your gestures come out across to them. It becomes so disheartening that you start communicating lesser and lesser until one day you just stop trying to reach out. You and your dirty container. That is the struggle of having speech impediment. As a child I more or less grew up with this condition. I don't have...

Decisions, decisions.

When it comes to being stuck at a dilemma, no one is more of an expert than I am. If you have found yourself in such situations time and again and are looking for a way out, I am afraid, you have come to the wrong place. I give no answers or solutions, just an aggressive nod of a head at how relatable your predicament is to me. More than you would want to admit, you have been caught in these plights. New year is just around the corner and you want to set some resolutions (NY is gone but just play along with me). Do you want to set a big ass goal once and for all and make a huge deal about it or do you want to keep it simple and keep it to yourself? If you go big, you might have the pressure to fulfill it (but just about everybody fails in their resolutions, isn't it? why not act like you're working on it for a few weeks until everyone forgets about it?) And if you go low-key, no one will know and you might even ignore it, sweep it under the carpet like you meant to anywa...

"There are no ugly women, only lazy ones"

Yesterday while going through my snapchat stories I saw a paparazzi picture of Gigi Hadid where she wasn't being a model but herself. She was dressed in casual gymwear. She's got a body to die for, everyone knows that, and besides how nice and tall she looked what caught my eye the most was how frizzy her hair looked. Done in a simple pony tail, her hair looked a far cry from perfect. Now, while this isn't something of a big shocking revelation to me, it always surprises to see the confirmations of a discovery I have made over the years. That there are no ugly women, only lazy ones. I used to envy girls with beautiful hair. I used to think how blessed they were to be able to toss their silky straight hair and get boys to swoon over them. I used to envy people with good bodies because in all these years of being body conscious, I have never been able to get that perfect body. I used to envy people who could dress well because even though my wardrobe is overflowing, hal...

I went to a movie: thoughts

Image
The movie starts at 18:00. What is the correct time to get to the theater? What is the correct attire (if there is one)? I get there at quarter to. My date doesn't reply the message. I call him, he won't answer. Why isn't he answering? He said six pm, didn't he? I'm being stood up, am I not? Hell, I'm being stood up by someone I have never even met in doing something I never intended when I woke up this morning. Why are there so many people? Oh God, I should've worn something better. Where is the ATM machine? Where is the toilet? Why did I never come to the movies before? I would have known where to go. All these people are giving me a dapper headache and this popcorn smell is overwhelming. I don't want coffee but I think I need one ASAP. And this guy hasn't even gotten on the train yet. Oh he's here. And he's late by 15 minutes! Of course I recognize him, and there's no way he won't recognize me. Good. Where the he...

Lessons

A thought occurred to me: If my life had been a movie and you were the audience, you'd probably say, bitch had it coming. Now this is something I wouldn't want my future potential employer to see: I never learn. Work wise I am a "fast learner" or so I say in my resumes. No, honestly though, I do learn fast when it comes to thinking-things or doing-things. But feeling-things is where my panache ends. This blog isn't going to look like one of those articles you read in random magazines where women tell-all about their relationships. I am going to stay discreet and sketch my life out in a vague manner (because why the heck not). I am in my late twenties already and by this age, most of my "friends" have settled down (or so it looks like to me) with a spouse, a baby and a career (?), and this is the age where people from the west (you know the goras, American and stuff) have already traveled the world, and had a massive career and a long figure income....

Where are you focused?

My life for quite a number of months now has been one hell of a roller coaster ride. I would've loved to tell you I've been feeling up more than down, but then I'd be lying to you. I have felt all sorts of feelings right from dizzying heights of happiness to the nauseating lows of insignificance. I am not proud of saying this but I have realised that such erratic changes in the way my feelings have tread is because I have anchored my happiness to other people's behavior. Fortunately or unfortunately, I am not alone in this. I have noticed a lot of people whose very existence depends on how someone or another treats them. And why is that a bad thing you may ask. Or some of you might think, yup, that's exactly what you get for putting your heart out and  letting your emotions rely on someone other than yourself. Now, I have pondered a lot. As someone has aptly pointed out, I am an over thinker. I should not be let alone with my thoughts. But one cannot help...
