WFH - gains and pains

After almost two years of working from home, I feel like I am qualified to tell the world the pros and cons of working from home. Bear in mind I am an introvert who thoroughly prefers working from home over having to socially interact at work. There are the usual pros of working from home – safety from the virus, flexibility, saving time etc and the usual cons – gain weight from heavily depleted physical activity. I have my own takes on the benefits I felt from my WFH stint.

 

Pros

1. Can call your mum and whine about how you don't feel like working that day

2. Bring the washing in if it starts raining or bring it out if the sun shines

3. Take your plants out for rain shower

4. Listen to music (any sort of music)

5. Make a fancy burger from scratch and finish doing the dishes by the time your break ends

6. Be home to get your delivery and if you miss them, go get your delivery from the post office while participating in the company meeting (more difficult in team meetings)

7. Shower during breaks

8. Don't have to time your hair wash during the week, can work with dirty hair and if necessary, apply hair oil during your break and wash your hair right after the clock hits 5.

9. Can sneeze or cough without the fear of being feared

 

Cons

1. Hearing people say, ghar basi basi paisa aako chha moj chha

I am in the middle of reading "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel. And I have come across this very intriguing description of this predator we all love to hate: hyena. Frankly speaking, I could not even begin to give a description close to what Mr. Martel has here, although it's obvious that I am not a writer of his caliber. I don't quite remember where I got this poem from but it's one of the most inspirational pieces of works that I've ever stumbled into. Because it has lived its life intensely the parched grass still attracts the gaze of passers-by. The flowers merely flower, And they do this as well as they can.
